This is one of several I did where the underneath layer of the piece was a segment cut from a very large, black drip painting, ala Jackson Pollock. Its upper layers were spontaneously created: I first just envisioned and then painted a bright yellow sort of sun-burst in the upper middle, with yellow and orange dripping down. The pyramid shape came next, which I painted with increasing transparency toward the bottom. I greatly enjoy that bottom area as it subtly reveals the Pollockian drips beneath in a mysterious way. The red circle adds a point of emphasis and the blue line brings it all together.
